What about writing 'I tried to think of something cute and witty to say in this card...' on the front and then on the inside writing '...but instead I thought i'd tell you that I love you'

???

why dont you go to google and look up birthday poems amd copie it on the card-or if you want something personal just wright what you feel in you heart.
