i just installed the battle for middle earth two and it told me to install some updates so i downloaded it and installed them but now it wont let me play when the game starts up an and
DIRECT X ERROR
it says "Please make sure you have directx 9.0 or better installed, also check that youre video card meets minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration on display control panel"

what do i do?

Check to make sure your computer meets these minimum requirements:
1.6 GHz CPU, 256MB RAM, 6.0GB Hard disk space, 64MB GPU (GeForce3 or greater)

If you bought your computer for more than $700 within the last two years, AND you specifically ordered a "gamer PC" or any PC with a graphics card, you do meet these. Use sisoftware sandra if you're not sure:

If you don't meet requirements, you're out of luck. You need to either buy a new computer, or buy new hardware for it.

If you do meet these requirements, update directx:

If it still doesn't work, contact your computer's tech support.
