Well both my parents are scientists, so I've had a couple of lessons on the digestive system. The length food stays in your stomach varies depending on the density of the food. If you are digesting something like jello, it will take about an hour to get through the stomach. If it's something like a bucket of KFC chicken, it could take about 3 hours.
Alright, moving on to the intestines. The stomach acid turns the food into a blobby mass. Remem ber, the intestines, if spread out, are pretty long. So it takes about 3 to 4 hours to get through the small intestine. And then it moves on to the large intestine. Remember that the intestines squeeze the food mass forward down the intestines, so it's pretty timely. This takes on end about 5 to 6 hours to get through the large. And it gets processed into waste for a couple of hours. So all in all, it takes anywhere between 10 to 24 hours for food to go in and then come out. ]
