What is "System Idle Process?"

Ok well a file or program, something on my computer is named System Idle Process.

What is it? What does it do? is it important? can I delete it?

Okay well Idle means like stand by..so maybe it is important?

No, don't end that. You shouldn't be messing around in task manager if you don't know what you're doing. System Idle Process indexes files and tries to anticipate your actions, and load things before you do them. It makes your computer faster.
