if i took home hermit crabs from the ocean and put them in a box filled with ocean water and took them home, what do i feed them? would they live? would i have to change the water? does anyone know how salty the ocean is? could i just make a mixture of salt and water for them?

hermit crabs dont really need water. they need a little section for water, and ocean water would be good to have... they might not be able to survive in not salt water because these aren't pet hermit crabs
put them in a little cage or container. depending on how many there are i can tell you i used to have them
if the water got dirty, you would need to change it
and there is hermit crab food you can buy
and you need to get a bowl and put a sponge in it so that a hermit crab can drink
