Guy at Work

Question Posted Thursday July 12 2007, 7:41 pm

So I've known this guy that I work with for about a month. My sister worked there before me and knew this guy. Before I even started working there he asked about me to her and a few other people there that know me.

After I started working there, we flirted some, but no big deal. Eventually a mutual friend told me he said he was scared to be in a relationship but he knew he'd regret not taking the opportunity I was giving him.

Well we hung out once outside of work. I went to his house, we watched a movie, and then went to eat. I met his mom and he met my parents. I really like him a lot and I'm willing to just have a casual thing and hang out and stuff, but here's the problem.

He's leaving on Saturday for the beach. By the time he comes back, I'll be gone on a vacation of my own. Before I come back, he's leaving again and coming back two days after I get back. Pretty much, I won't see him for about three weeks. He can call me, sure, but we won't be around each other. So Tuesday I talked to him on the phone and said we should hang out. He said yeah, and Thursday would be good.

I didn't work today but I went in to ask if he still wanted to hang. He said yes; he was getting off at 3 and then had some business to take care of. He said he'd call me before 5:30 to tell me what's up. By 6 he hadn't called so I called him (a couple times he said he'd call, didn't, and then said he thought I said I was going to call him) at his home phone (his cell is messed up) and he wasn't at home. I've had a hard time getting him to call a couple times, and it makes me mad. If he didn't want to or couldn't hang out, he should have at least called me, right? He even got upset because he thought I did the same thing once...and he always says if he says he's going to do something he will, and if he doesn't there's a good explanation. Now it's almost 8:00 and he still hasn't called. It looks like we won't be hanging out.

Tomorrow I work with him in the morning and he works at night too. I doubt he'd want to hang out after working all day, plus he has to leave early Saturday morning. I know no one here can tell me if he's really interested or just playing around, but what would you do in this situation? I just hate when he says he's going to call and doesn't. Should I just give up?

personally, i wouldn't try to make a commitment with him. i would just keep him as a friend. but remember - follow your heart.
and he may think that it is just going to be a summer fling and nothing more. you never know.

hope i helped :]
