He'll be more comfortable around you and probably would ask you out. So dont be scared, just think of him as your guy friend and try to spend some quality time with him and before you know it he'll be all yours once he pops the question.

If you plan out topics to talk about, you probably won't even remember them or it'll seem planned out & get awkward. I think you just need to let yourself relax & go with it. Ask him questions to get to know him. What he likes to do, what he did that day, etc. If you ask him questions & listen, he'll like that you are listening & don't just care about yourself. Just try starting a friendship before getting into a relationship. If you're comfortable with talking to him & there aren't a lot of awkward silences, then you'll know you're ready to move on & date. For more of an interesting convo, it would be easier to ask him random questions about topics & let him go into detail about them & add your own thoughts/opinions.
