Out of shape

Question Posted Saturday July 7 2007, 5:26 pm

How do you guys get motivated?
I've gotten out of shape these last couple of months, and have put on at least ten pounds.
I'm feeling very unhappy, what with my new love handles and pot-belly.

What gets you guys into working out and eating right?
I just can't seem to get out of the junk food.

Here's all the proof you need, I love to eat-

okay, first off, you look amazing. i honestly don't think you really NEED to lose weight, but here's how i get motivated:
first, i think of how i'd like to look, and compare myself to that. get a realistic goal, and don't overwhelm yourself.

i'm a huge junkfood addict, too, but hear me out through this.. if you just sit and think "do i really need this?" you'll make the smart move. i didn't used to believe this when people would tell me to do this, but if you really think it through, it works! just don't get the food-don't just say "oh, screw it." just walk away.

one of the ways i actually got over the junk food thing was also requiring myself to exercise if i did eat anything. that would make up for the snack, or get me to not want to do the exercise for the snack, so i just didn't eat it.
try things like 100 curlups for small, fatty snacks. it really works, for me. oh, and let yourself cheat, once in a while! i do when i hangout with friends and go to sleepovers.

to motivate yourself to just plain exercise, however, music is a great tool. if you don't have an ipod, just try running or walking with a sibling, parent or friend. it makes it so much more interesting. you can also look for workout shows on tv, so that you'll get into thinking "this is only a half hour/hour, i can do this." if you don't think your tv has these programs, try buying a workout tape.

remember, take it easy on yourself, and don't stress over losing weight. you honestly don't even need to, from that picture.

best of luck, though!

xoxo
kat!
