ive been having some horible headaches, around mostly near my temles and occasionaly my whole head.
does any body have any head ache remedies, that will sooth my head ache.
take into consideration that i have already taken two tablets of ibuprofen which half the time dont work for me.
i also have knots in my neck.
and im leaving for europe tomorrrow, so i need things i can do with easy access things, and maybe even a few that are good to do whole on an 11 hour plane ride. thanks a bunch
Okay. Try taking three tablets [600mg] instead of two [400mg]. Theoretically it's an overdose, but it's less than prescription strength. My doctor told me to do it. As long as you don't exceed the 8 or 9 tablets a day, you're fine. Just don't make it an hourly habit, you could hurt yourself. Some people also find that half a dose of Tylenol, and half a dose of Motrin works. Try that, unless you're allergic to Tylenol [acetaminophen]
As for things that don't involve medicine, make sure you're drinking enough water [good luck with that on a plane]. Rub your temples hard [but not too hard] with your hands/fingers. It helps a lot. Icepacks if you have access to them- they shrink blood vessels a bit & alleviates pain. Take a nap- easy on an 11-hour flight. Chew gum, read a book, bring an iPod, watch the inflight movie. Anything to distract you from the fact that you have a headache.
If headaches become a daily or near-daily occurence for you, talk to your doctor about them. You could have chronic migranes or something of the sort, in which case they can prescribe stronger things for you.
Hope it goes away before your trip.. headaches suck! :)
EDIT: Yea, I'd see a doctor, just to be on the safe side. It could be a number of things, but it's probably just migranes. More people get them than you might think. And like I said, they can prescribe you stuff that prevents them, or pills that are stronger, non-addicting, and work better than OTC stuff. :) [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
