Here's a perfect example, and this is true.
You know the Cingular commercial where for only $5 dollars more a month you get unlimited text messaging? Well, yes of course that is correct, but the twist to it is, it's only from Cingular to Cingular. So if you had that, and texted someone that has Verison, they would charge you for it.

HOWEVER
That doesn't mean commercials don't twist the truth a little, you know? At the end of most commercials, there's always that guy talking really fast explaining the rules and conditions to whatever the commercial is offering. People in advertising are good and making a product sound really good by leaving out little details. [ sugarplum07's advice column | Ask sugarplum07 A Question ]

And when you air a commercial on tv they have to pay a lot of money to air it.
So hopefully they didn't waste their money on something fake.
But you are right some things do seem too good to be true.
I don't always buy everything.
But sometimes there are reasonable things out there that are necessities in your home. [ easterngirl's advice column | Ask easterngirl A Question ]

They may also advertise something, and make it seem big, and it ends up being really small, and its a waste of money.
