so what i've got right now is as follows:
Ibanez AF75 -> BOSS DS-1 distortion -> Digitech Whammy! octave pedal -> 20 year old Randall bass commander II solid state amp
what i want to do is change the sound i'm getting without having to rework my entire set up, but i'm wanting to add an overdrive or fuzz pedal into that so that i can get a more dirty tone without having to switch from extremely thick distortion on some songs straight to clean. i want a middle- an overdrive or fuzz pedal! but i'm not exactly sure what kind to get, or where to place it in my rig...

Maybe give some free advice about: Music? uisforukelele answered Monday June 25 2007, 10:50 am: go to musiciansfriend.com or guitarcenter.com. boss has a crapload of midrange fuzz/overdrive pedals, and their stuff is high quality. if i were you i would play it after the octave pedal. i've also heard that if you're playing live, to get a natural fatter/distorted sound, you can play through two amps and turn them up really loud. that brings out the fuzz. if you have a guitar center around where you live, or a music store that would know what they're talking about, go consult them about it too. the fuzz and overdrive pedals normally have different settings too so it wouldn't be overwhelming or anything.
