weird conversations

wen im on da phone wit ppl lik my dad (we dont hava good relashonship), far away family members,friends stuff lik tht we will b on the phone and just say nuthin cuz we cant thing of any thing to say so wat r some good lik start up conversations tht might last a while so we dont hav awkward convo.???thanx

well, for my phone convos, i always ask the other person how their day was and that usually gets it started. like if the person says they went to an amusement park like six flags, you could end up talking about it for a while. you have to be willing to go into a topic and not jump from topic to topic too quickly.
also, talking about new movies, music, and tv stuff is always a favorite with friends.
For your dad, ask him how work is, how everything is. if he went to any cool restaurants or did anything fun met any cool people. you know, that kinda stuff.
