Male circumsision: The foreskin of the penis is cut off, usually when the boy is still a baby. It is done so for religious (Jewish) and hygenic purposes: a circumcized penis is easier to clean.
Female circumsizion: The vaginal lips and usually the clitoris is cut off. It is done in Middle Eastern and some Afrikan countries to young girls. The belief is that without a clitoris, girls will be less liable to lose their virginity before marriage. This is an extremely painful thing to do, and I, amongst many, am very against it.
