why is it called goodbye even thugh its never a "good"bye and it hurts?

Everyone experiences loss whether its death of a person or animal, or being dumped, or just someone you love and need leaving from you.

it was originally "god be with you" but it was shortened a long long time ago to just "goodbye." you can read about it at this site. =]

i guess its like "good times" or "good luck". like your wishing them for good until you see them again. but idk!
