Stupid Computer.

Question Posted Saturday June 16 2007, 12:05 am

Okay, so my computer is like, majorly messed up.
I've tried restarting it a few times, but it's not working.. so here's my problem..

My dad messed the computer up somehow (he's not very good with them..) So, now you go to the desktop or w/e, and all that's showing is the picture. no toolbar, no icons. nothing. the only way i'm on this, is because my AIM box came up for sign on, like it always does, along with the regular block up popping block up poppers.

So what I was wondering was, either A)how do i get my 'stuff' back? I've tried going through programs (ctrl, alt and delete) and i've tried just hitting that thing for the start up options to come up (key between ctrl and alt).

Either that, or how can I get to system restore, if I don't have my icons, because I was just planning on going back a week or something.

I've tried calling the people I always call who help with the computer, they're professionals, but they were really no help like, at all.

Please help if you actually know something about computers?

Thanks.

well something happened to my computer and it got messed up, what i did was i restarted my computer and when it started up i pressed F10. that basically like reboots your whole computer, it may take like 10 min. but when you do this you can loose files, like i lost all my songs on iTUNES, but they were still on limewire so that was good. when you do this its basically like you just got your computer and its new and everything.

well hope i helped, if not then here try this:
1-800-GEEK-SQUAD

i think thats the number...if not go to google and type in geek squad, they are a computer fixing service lol. =)

when you start the computer, repeatedly tap the "F8" key, and when the options box comes up, choose safe mode. When windows is started, it will pop a box up with a "yes" or "no" answer. Click no, and then follow the prompts to restore your computer back to a few days ago. You will not lsoe any data thats been worked with in the my documents folder. You might have to reinstall any programs that you installed depending on what date you choose to restore.
