You should see how it goes the first time is usally the weirdest one but later it works out if you keep on talking. you shoudl go with the flow that he is giving you, you should talk about yourself and him and what your both like and what u did that day and the day before. normal questions will work fine and if you both can't talk then one of you are shy and not helping or your both just not connecting [ SpanishBlood's advice column | Ask SpanishBlood A Question ]

Ideas:
-what'd you do today
-how's work
-going anywhere this summer
-have you seen pirates 3?
Whatever he says, just roll with it. Offer your own opinion, even and especially if, it's different than waht you think he may want you to say. Guys like girls who play it straight. Have their own mind. Be a ball-buster, give him a hard time about something he does that is gay. Hell, act like he's right there with you. If things get awkward, drop the phone act like you hurt yourself and laugh it off. It sounds lame, but comic relief eases tension and anything's better than dead air.
