First make sure your nails are the length you want them because some nail polishes really do last awhile & it will look funny if you have to cut them. Next, put down a towel/paper towel when you paint your nails. It's a pain to have to get nail polish off surfaces/floors. Dip the nail polish brush in the nail polish & swipe each side of it on the side of the bottle [near the top] so there isn't clumps of nail polish on your brush. Next, put on one light layer of nail polish on each fingernail. After thats done, wait for it to dry. It should only take a few minutes, but it has to be totally dry. After its dry, do a second coat the same way. That way it's light to begin with, won't get all clumpy, & the next light coat will make the color darker.
Let that dry before you do anything. When you are actually painting your nails, do light strokes from the bottom of your nail to the top in sections, so go back to the bottom & go to the top, etc. etc.
