where do i go?

Question Posted Thursday April 12 2007, 9:33 pm

I am in a play and I have a big part. The show is the 1st weekend in May, and we don't have any rehearsals this upcoming week because it is school vacation, so basically we have the two weeks after vaction and then it's the show. I am also getting confirmed at my Hebrew School. It's on May 22nd, so it's later than my play. However, we only meet once a week for confirmation class (Wednesdays) and for the next two weeks it will over lap with my play rehersals. There is NO WAY I can miss play rehersals...it will be tech week and my character is VERY important. However, I think they will be very mad if I miss confirmation class. I have not missed it yet, I only had to leave a half an hour early this past week. Other kids in my confirmation class have missed it a number of times, so I thought it would be okay to miss twice. However, it will be SO CLOSE to confirmation, I am positive they will be pissed at me if I miss two in a row for my play reherasals.. I have NO IDEA what to do...I mean technically other people missed confirmation alot, but I feel like this is different because it is so much closer to the actual date of it. I cannot miss two confirmation classes in a row - maybe I can miss one of them, but not two. My play rehersals are from 6-9 pm and confirmation is 6:15-7:45. I really do not know how to handle this, and I think that which ever thing I miss, somebody is going to be VERY UPSET with me. My director of the play will probably be mad if I am that late...especially since it will be tech week (we do it in costume and with light cues). What should I do?! Thank you in advance.

On one hand you have an extracurricular activity and the other hand you have your faith. At first glance I'm inclined to say confirmation class should be your priority, but the more I thought about it, I changed my mind. Confirmation class is important, but faith isn't really about going to specific classes at specific times, its something that you feel in your core. If its strong, than missing some classes shouldn't be a big deal. I would talk to the people in charge of the classes, see if there is any way you can meet your obligations in another way. Maybe meet with them at another time or something. Pray, that often helps alot in matters like this.
