Music Question - Mezzo (A3 to D5...???)

Question Posted Thursday March 1 2007, 7:00 am

I'm auditioning for a musical tomorrow (Thursday, March 1st...sorry if I didn't give you enough notice in advance...) and I really want to be cast as a character that has a "Mezzo (A3 to D5)" voice. I want to be prepared for my audition, which means knowing what "A3 to D5" means. I saw that you like music, so I decided to ask you. I'm not sure if A3 would be the 3rd A key on the piano or not...? Thanks so much!!!
~Lauren

Honestly, I'm not really sure. I've never been in a musical, so I wish I could help. =( Sorry.
