For example when you go to a website and it has an option to "Remember me the next time I login" It stores a cookie in your computer that remembers your username and password so you dont have to re-enter it the second time.
Temporary internet files are the websites stored in your URL bar(where you type the web address) It stores there so you dont have to type in the website everytime, you can just type "A" and advicenators will come up (for example). Temporary internet files are also websites that are stored, like in your history. To just keep a record of what you have been too.
You can also delete those by going into my computer, double clicking C drive, double clicking windows folder, then going into the prefetch folder - and deleting all the items out of there (theyre just temporary files that have been stored from websites youve visited)
If you have the new internet explorer
go to tools, internet options, delete & hit delete all.
If you have the old internet explorer in properties and internet options you have to delete everything. Temporary files, cookies & history
