Question Posted Wednesday February 21 2007, 1:39 am
I used to be on birth control for over a year, but was recently taken off my family's health insurance..so I can no longer afford it unless I pay out of pocket. I'd like to go to Planned Parenthood to get on it again, but I have a couple questions for those who have gone themselves or know the answers: 1.) Do I need health insurance? 2.) If I don't have health insurance & have a decent income, how much will I be looking at paying for birth control every month? 3.) What will my appointment be like? 4.) What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Any other suggestions or tips would be great. Thank you.
1. no you do not
2.if you are under 18 it's free
3. they will bring you into a room and ask you questions. then you go into a room undress from waist down they take your heart beat blood pressure andd if you want they check for STD's and put plyer things up your vagina and put swoves in there.. then she'll give you a tissue to clean up and your good to go
4. your social security number i didn't have mine and it didn't matter buttt just in case. your odn't need anything else. but if you are over 18 probably a photo id =]
there are 3 different types that they could give you
- the pill
- a shot that lasts for 3 months and come back every 3 months for it
- or the patch which you change every 3 weeks
