Well how long have you had it?
When I got my period, my mom was traveling. So I was totally freaked out when I got it.
Trust me, you have to tell her at some point.
I know its hard, but it's hard for everyone.
You just have to hold your head up high and be confident.
Take your mom somewhere where there's no distractions, no people and calmly tell her " I need to tell you something"
She'll probably get nervous, or scared. But that's how they all are.
Just come right out clean and tell her "I got my period"

If you feel uncomfortable telling her this (which some girls are) you don't even have to actually say it. You can give her hints like "mom, i'm a woman now."
or "what is at the end of a sentence?... a period." and then just stare at her and be silent.
hun, she's been through this... i've been through this... every single girl in the world as been through this, and if they can do it, so can you!
she'll get the picture about what you're telling her and she'll tell you the next step on what to do.

Any more questions or problems, drop one in my inbox.
I hope I helped and just remember to stay strong.

PS: some other ways of hinting are emails, notes, whispering in her ear, leaving a voice message.
but honestly i prefer telling her in person, that way only she will know, and someone else won't hear about it.
