Been a while since i spoke to you ,
just saw the link to your column was in my favorites ;).
I have a dilemma , actually , its no longer a dilemma as i had to make a decision right away. But i'd just like to get your opinion on this matter.
Last week was my first week as assistent-teacher , I work with kids now from the age of 9 - 12 at an elementry school.
Most of these kids are very nice , only the boys in my group are a bit troubled(they demand most attention).
The case :
Last thursday , right after school , a student (i'll call him X )comes back in the classroom right after the teacher is gone. I was still in the classroom as i had to clean a thing or two. X might have been a bit frustrated because the teacher and X had been argueing earlier.
X says to me, "What a fucking bitch" , about his teacher.
What i did is , i said to X that he really can't say that about anyone , especially not a teacher.
And i called the teacher who was right outside the classroom, i told X to tell the teacher what he just said and it ended with X getting punished for what he said( he had to stay after school ).
Please give me your opinion on this matter ,
thanx in advance ,
xx Paul
ps. my msn is hacked now :x , forgot what your msn was again , if you wanna add me , add : ashkate_10@hotmail.com ( old back-up msn ) .
Well I think it's normal for students to call their teacher a bitch because many students in my school does..I guess it's ok as long as it doesn't reach their teacher because it slightly calms them down when they call them a name.
For X, I think you should've let him go because I'm sure he had trouble from the fight with the teacher plus you made him stay with the teacher longer so he might be hating on him. If he broke something though, then you should call the teacher.
