Best friend Jealousy

Question Posted Saturday February 3 2007, 11:31 am

(13/f) Over the years, my "best friends" have changed slightly. Not that I mean it too, we just kind of drift apart because of different reasons. I'm still in contact with all of my best friends that were in the past, we're just not AS close. Well I'm friends with this guy, and we're extremely close. (No, not a bf-gf relationship) Well, we do almost everything together. He goes shopping with me, and for my birthday we were planning to go to a huge mall and watch a movie and then go to Hot Topic and different stores. Well, at school, he used to sit with me at lunch, and now he sits with these girls, Megan and Kayla. It didn't bother me, he sat with them when I was absent. Well, yesterday I was leaving early to go to watch my cousin's dance recital and I wouldn't be going outside for social time or whatever you want to call it. So I asked him to sit with me. He did, and Thomas said something to me, so I turned around and talked to him for like a minute and when I turned around to talk to this guy again, he had moved down and was talking to Megan and Kayla. I tried to blow it off and say "oh, its just because I was ignoring him." But i wasn't ignoring him, so I don't know why he changed seats. At social time we usually hang out too, and listen to our iPods and such. But instead of me and him listening to his iPod or my iPod, he listens to Kayla's MP3 with her and Megan listens to his iPod and I listen to mine. I feel like we're drifting apart and that he's choosing them over me. I know that sounds dramatic, sorry. But on the phone, he says Megan and Kayla are annoying. (And honestly, they kind of are. Kayla says everything's "scene" and Megan thinks she's better than everyone.) But he confided one of his deepest secrets with me and swore me to secrecy, then confided it in Kayla 3 weeks later. I told him that was a mistake because she'd be tempted to tell people, and before school was over everyone would know. Well earlier this week, she told him she was extremely tempted to tell Megan and someone else. So now he's like 'OMG she wants to tell people.' and I'm like 'NO DUH.' But my question is, how do I confront him about making me feel left out, without offending him and causing an argument?

well. i think this is totally one of those things that happen amoung friends and that it will probably end up just fine, but there is a possibility that this wish of mine [and probably yours] wont come true. you should tell him how you feel. tell him that hes not acting like he usually does and go over the things that he said about 'Megan' and 'Kayla' [make sure not in front of them of corse. (you dont want to have the chance of THERE people being mad at you)]. then after that, talk to Megan and Kayla, sepratly [(sp?)], and figure out what he hasnt told you.
sorry if it doesnt work.
im not exactally a very good person to answer this question, but i try. hope you try too.
:o)
