Thank you for choosing me to answer your question!

Actually, someone as young as you should just first stick with the Food Guide Pyramid. Getting your 3-4 servings of fruit;6-7 servings of grain; a little of meat; and a couple of servings of poultry and dairy.

What really helped me was was eating several small meals a day rather than 3 huge meals. small meals every 2-3 hours can keep you full longer, and you'll eventually start eating less.

If you are a junk food addict (you consume lots of soda and chips), then try not to completely stop because it's almost like a drug -- there are chemicals in junk food that can keep you eating it. So try to slowly decrease your junk food portions. It is hard though! I am a huge fan of soda but If I ever go 1 or 2 days without it, I really can feel the loss of energy and I start to feel sadder. It's weird.

Also, with exercising, it's OK to go lightly for awhile I once thought doing heavy exercise all the time makes it better, but actually it can just make you worse. Start with walking a couple miles each week, then add a half mile for every week. Also, switch to easy alternative foods: soy foods (soy milk, soy meat, soy protein foods), lowfat anything, anything that's less than 100 calories. I usually eat special K bars that contain less than 100 calories and they fill me up pretty quickly. So try those things.

And don't ever go to diet pills!! Except taking herbal ginseng (a natural herb that is safe for anyone to use) it gives you more energy to do things. Also, drinking green tea can actually help you lose weight. Technically, it burns fat. It's obviously not as effective as real diet pills but long-term use, including exercise and a healthy diet makes it work pretty well.

Never starve yourself, either. Many young girls around your age thinks it's better to starve so you will lose weight faster. Several reasons why you shouldn't:

1) It's not healthy! It messes up your periods (if you are a girl), including less of a chance of getting pregnant -- infertility.

2) In the long-term it will make things double worse-- literally. Starving yourself, and then eating again actually messes up your metabolism, so when you east again, your metabolism goes down, and your eating increases since you are so hungry. And you will gain twice as more as you did before you even starve yourself.

3) Not good for your overall health. It decreases your blood count, your bone mass (which causes osteoprosis later in life), it gives you better risks of getting certain diseases, your immunity decreases. So when you are around someone with a cold you will easily get it. Because since you don't eat, your immune system weakens. Lack of nutrients messes up other parts of the body (including the heart!!!)

If you want, try asking a Doctor or Nutritionist to see if you are old enough to take multivitamins. Certain vitamins help your body burn calories, burn fat, and give you more energy and stamina. I shouldn't recommend you taking it because for some it can cause poisoning. But you can stick with flinstones (nothing to do with age. These are actually safe for anyone!)

And don't be strict on yourself. Don't worry so much on the amount of calories, trans fat, fat, and sugar you are consuming. Just worry about your health and eat what's on the food uide pyramid, while paying special attention to what it says on how many servings to eat.

But since you are so young, never be too afraid to treat yourself to a little piece of a cake and a few cookies every-now-and-then. Celebrities do it, I do it, and anybody who diets does it. We all should be rewarded for our efforts.

Hope I helped! =]
