help me find this song

Question Posted Saturday December 30 2006, 4:34 pm

hi how r u? i have a problem. I had recorded a song on a cassette tape.I want to download it on my pc.so I tried to listen to it and identify some words .i couldn't identify many because the sound is very bad. plz help me to know its name or the singer.I think it's an old song.here r some words.

"far from here , still so near , still so near to you"
"i'm so happy now I found you"
"thinking of the pain of departure"
"I still can't believe it's true"
" no I don't know when someday I will have you back again"
and the last sentence in the song is " "hold me in your arms , tell me that you'll never let me go"

and I think the first word in the song is "lonliness"

it's sung by a man and there's a woman with him.she's repeating some of the words.

Actually I need someone who knows the song because I didn't find those sentences on the internet.Once I tried to find the lyrics of "let me get to know you" by Paul Anka and I didn't find them.Anyway , it's a slow song sung by a man, and the woman is sometimes repeating the last word of his sentence or says the same sentence with him or even says the first word of the coming sentence. For ex: he says"far from here".She says :"far from here" Then he says "Still so near" and she says "still so near to you".I think it's from the sixties or the seventies.I'm sorry, I don't know much about the old sogs. Please could u help me find this sweet song?

this was the closest i could get;

"Hold On To Me Tonight" by Gina Lorenzo
Heading towards the great divide can bring your spirit down
It knocks the wind right from your chest and spins you all around
But if you have someone beside you to help you through the pain
the sun will shine upon you once again

Hold on to me tonight
Tell me everything will be alright
Hold me close and never let me go
Hold on to me tonight
Then Ill know that everythings alright
Hold me close until the morning comes

When those burdens weigh me down and almost break my back
It's hard to focus on what's right and harder to react
But when I feel the tide's against me and I just can't swim no more
the one I love will pull me back to shore

Hold on to me tonight
Tell me everything will be alright
Hold me close and never let me go
Hold on to me tonight
Then I'll know that everything's alright
Hold me close until the morning comes

i'm sorry. but i looked everywhere & thats about the best i could do =
