My boyfriend has a best friend who is a beautiful girl
I have been with my boyfriend for a little over 6 months now. He has a best friend that is a girl that is younger than him. She is gorgeous and totally his type. They never dated. They have been friends for over 6 yrs., they met working together. He is super close with her family. He used to eat dinner over there and occasionally visits them. Why didn't they ever date? I think that he may have liked her at one time, but I have never asked him that, because I don't want him to think that I'm jealous or a control freak like his ex girl friend. I just needed someone else's opinion. What do you think about this?

I believe that they just want to stay friends.. either that, or one of them has some feelings but the other doesn't, so nothing is done to get a relationship. I think the girl and the boy thinks of each other as best friends (which is, in my opinion, better than being a girlfriend) and they just want to stay that way, not anything more or less.
If you really want to know, just ask. I don't see how it'll make you seem like a control freak. Just tell him you want to know. Just a curiosity.

I think you simply ask him.
Tell him you are just curious. Ask in a serious way
and it won't come off looking like you are jealous.
So long as you don't tell him never to see her again, you won't sound like a control freak either.
A simple, "I'm curious why you have never dated since you are such good friends". Will work fine. :)
