do i support my "ex" in a time of major trouble or let him f

Question Posted Thursday December 14 2006, 10:34 am

My boyfriend and I have been together for a very rocky 5 years and have a child together. To sum it up he has abandoned me emotionally and physically many times. He left us again the other night and while drinking (one of our biggest problems) ended up in jail.We just moved to my home town where he knows no-one.My family and friends say let him take care of himself and not to worry. But I do love him and worry about him. He doesn't deserve my concern but should I abandon him with no one to help him in this horrible situation? I am 34F he is 37M

If his drinking is affecting your relationship, tell him it's either the alcohol or you and tell him you mean it. Try to help him into a rehab center. You're right, after everything he has put you through, he doesn't deserve your concern, he really doesn't. You can offer help, and that's the most you can do. Don't feel bad if he doesn't realize his problem, that's his problem and I know you love him, but sometimes tough love prevails.
