MgnBoBgn answered Saturday December 9 2006, 9:36 pm: I was in a car accident caused by a drunk driver this past summer...and i screwed up my back too. So, ive been going to the chiropractor since the accident..
Before the accident i was unable to even crack my back or neck if someone would like walk on me...
Now, my back/neck crack ALL the time! I asked my chiro about it and she said that having an accident concerning the back for some reason increases the number of times it cracks...weird.
So..that would explain the cracking...and its not bad for you at all...i mean..i pay money to HAVE my back cracked by the chiro...so go ahead and crack away :-)
Hope i helped you out! [ MgnBoBgn's advice column | Ask MgnBoBgn A Question ]
theymos answered Saturday December 9 2006, 6:57 pm: not much is known about cracking joints, not even what causes the sounds. Many people say it causes arthritis, but there is no conclusive evidence. It probably feels good because it temporarily numbs the area around the bones. I've found that if I crack my neck every day for months, it will start to get stiff and sore. After some time of not cracking it, it returns to normal. What you should probably do, is crack it only with the muscles in your neck, and not your hands, or only do it once in a while.
