i was watching this talk show where a guy was 19 and a girl was 16 and they were talking about sex online and he got in trouble with the government. is that possible?? i thought there was a 3 year limit first off, and second, if they were just talking about it openly, how is that commiting a crime?? just wondering, i was confused.
PunkieFreak4690 answered Monday November 27 2006, 11:39 pm: Federal law states that if you are minor (hypothetically) and you went off with someone who was 19, and he was attempting to engage in some kind of sexual activity, law enforcement can arrest him. but because the federal law says that someone is a minor, and does something innapropriate with another person who is 18 or older, it's illegal, and the person 18 or over is charged for sexual assault or molestation. There is no 3-year limit or anything like that. [ PunkieFreak4690's advice column | Ask PunkieFreak4690 A Question ]
