herpes is an std, so it can be dangerous. you should be extremely careful & go to a doctor if it turns out that you do have herpes. there's a few things you should know though.
signs & symptoms-
sexual contact & an open sore. it's commonly caught when you kiss & the other person has herpes & open sores occur. you can get it by genital-genital contact or oral-genital contact, so yes you could get it that way.
you'll eventually have a sore if you catch herpes. it's something you'll know/see.
