To Kill a Mockingbird & Remember the Titans

I have an essay in my English class, and we're supposed to express whether or not they show a pessimistic or optimistic view on life. I believe they both show optimistic views, but I'm having trouble in trying to find examples from the text and the movie in this. If anybody could help me find examples for the optimistic view, or even show me examples of why the book or the movie would show a pessimistic view on life, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
