hey im 15/f. Im going to a new school this year. And ive been in my soon to be old school for 5 years now. Im going to be a sophmore this year. And im so scared to start a new school, because i hate making friends and starting over. Im going to get lost because i have always been in a school with only one floor and this is two. Im just really nervous and scared because i have no friends and i dont know where any of my classes are because its a semi-big school. I've moved around alot when i was little from school to school and i dont want to go to another school. But i have to so can anybody please tell me ways to like calm down, and give me positive things to think about. And teach me how to make friends and approach them! Thanks a bunch any advice is appreciated!
Then strike up a conversation and remember to keep it CASUAL. And stay calm! Don't overwhelm yourself with fears that the other person will not like you. If they see you know what you're talking about, they'll think you're cool.
Also, use the right body language. Show eagerness when listening. Look straight into the eyes of the person you're talking to and nod every once in a while.
Of course, Look Neat and Presentable. Those well-practiced smiles won't get you aywhere if your hair is disheveled and your breath is skanky!
About the "I might get lost part", it's better to ask a TEACHER for directions so that you won't find yourself in the wrong place (believe me, during my first day of high school, I was looking for my class room...Stupid me, I asked the stupid seniors and they gave me directions going to the oddest place on earth---the comfort room!). Or, if you find yourself a kind and trustworthy buddy on the first day(like your seatmate), you might as well just stick with her.
