I'm sixteen years old and people tell me I'm really good at picking out clothes and looking cute. The problem is no matter what dress I try on it look bad on me. I'm kinda pear shaped and I have wide hips. Do you know of any styles of dresses or places I could find dresses that would most likely look good on me?
uisforukelele answered Monday July 24 2006, 8:49 pm: i have the same problem that you have (and my older sister does too). for skirts i like a cute a-line type, or even a kind of a-line swishy skirt (i never go with a straight skirt, it just looks bad on me). i normally wear a cute tank top or whatever with it because it contrasts swishy/loose and cute/tighter (but not extremely tight). if i have to wear it to school then i might add a cute sweater or wrap or something because we have a strict dress code. and for dresses i go with the same look with the a-line type bottom and more of a simple top half of the dress... i have some dresses that are like, cocktail attire and they have a swishy bottom and a tighter spaghetti strap top. all in all it seems to work well for me. my sister and i are eight years apart but we wear the same size so when she looks good in something i go buy something similar :) [ uisforukelele's advice column | Ask uisforukelele A Question ]
