Question Posted Monday July 24 2006, 12:23 pm

I heard if you brush your teeth with baking soda, it will somehow whiten your teeth. But my question is, is it toxic if swallowed?

brushing your teeth with baking soda does whiten your teeth because its like tiny scrubbers and can clean better than toothpaste. its not toxic but it would probibly be wise not to swallow it. like toothpaste you dont swallow that. tha same applies to baking soda. bright smiles!!! $ JAZZIEPINK_09$

Well most toothpastes contain baking soda. but i wouldn't swallow it.Although it wouldn't be toxic in small doses i would think it could give you a bad stomach ache if not worse. It certainly wouldn't kill you because the use baking soda in food. before you start using it all the time i would only use it once a day and see how you react

but try crest white strips! they really work

No.

It's not toxic if swallowed in small amounts.

The only way that it can be toxic is if you swallow it in large ammounts.

Why don't you read the back of the thing that the baking soda is it? It will say rather it is toxic or not...

I know how hard it is, but you should do that next time before asking us.

To answer your question, no, it is not toxic unless you are really stupid and swallow a very large amount of it.

It will help a little.
Personally I wouldn't reccommend it.
Try a toothpaste that says. "baking soda added" or something.
Because Baking soda tastes really bad.
Not toxic if you swallow a little bit.
It could give you a stomach ache if its a lot.

Hope I helped.
Good Luck.

I think it is OK as long as you don't take in a large amount. :)
