If you are talking about this web site, then yes it is free.
The only "cost" if you are kind enough to do so is that we do like for you to rate your answers and submit some feedback to your advisers.
Some spend a lot of time looking things up for people and answering their questions. A little feedback or at least a thank you is a pretty cheap price to pay. And is very much appreciated. :)
