Period Problems

Question Posted Sunday June 25 2006, 1:10 pm

Hello,

I'm 17 and I've had my period for four years now, so it's usually very regular. However, it was supposed to have come two weeks ago, and yet it's not here. I'm still having the signs of "PMS" that I normally have (cramps, nausea, etc.), which have lasted for over a week, yet there's still no actual period. I don't have sex, so I can't be pregnant. This has never happened before. I figure that if it doesn't come within another week or so, I may have to see a doctor. Can you possibly explain this to me, and should I see a doctor?

same thing happened to me once! but it was only because i was sick.

stress, illness, and temperature can all factor when you get your period. if any of these apply to you, there is your answer. if you do not get your period in a week, i would consider going to the doctor. he/she might say the same thing that i did.

hope i helped. = ]]

There are a lot of different factors that can affect your period. Stress, illness, weight loss or weight gain, medication, etc.

However, the rule of thumb is that if anything does seem a little strange with any 'womanly parts', you should always get them checked out by a doctor, because it's better to be safe than sorry.

As I say though, there are a lot of possible reasons so I really don't think you need to worry. Pay a quick visit to your doctor and see what they think. It may be they suggest you just leave it a while until your period is next due and see what happens there but as I say, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've been through this before. Sometimes periods can be a few weeks late or a few weeks early, while still getting PMS symptoms anytime before, after, or during periods. Usually it's regular. But if it becomes a month late, then it would be great to see a Doctor then. Usually Doctors will tell you it can be caused by stress or pregnancy (which pregnancy doesn't apply to you) and will recommend an appointment for you. Good luck on that though.
