overeating

Question Posted Tuesday May 30 2006, 7:16 pm

I think I am one of those emotional eaters (people that eat when they are upset, mad, bored...) and I don't know how to stop it. =\ I asked my parent to ask a nutritionist if I could go see them, but all the nutritionists focus on kids who are "extremely obese." I may not have 100 extra pounds on me, but I am not the skinniest person in the world and want to change so I can be healthy and more self-confident. Help me!!

First of all, you don't need to be obese to see a children's nutritionist. I still see one even though I am the appropriate weight. Still go see a nutritionist if you think you need to. You know you need a nutritionist if you do not have the right BMI for your height and weight. To find your BMI go to: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
If your BMI is greater or close to 25, tell your parents you need to see a nutritionist because you are at a risk to becoming obese. To stop emotionally eating, STAY AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN, when you feel bored go outside or do something else you enjoy. Also, if you can't stop emotionally eating try to eat more healthier foods like carrots with non-fat dip or fruits. Believe it or not 200 strawberries is equal to 2 cookies. So choose the strawberries over the cookies ;) Hope you get to feel more confident and if you need to ask anymore questions just drop 'em in my inbox!
