Does anyone know of any music editing programs that can be downloaded for free or very inexpensively (free is obviously preferable) and work with Mac OS X? A recording program would be great too. Thanks so much. I'll rate high.

GarageBand comes with iLife '06. It's easy to use and also allows you to use anything you can plug into an 8" mic jack. It also comes with some pre-looped soundclips, which can lead to some interesting tomfoolery.
