what does it mean if a person who is usually emotionally impenetrable suddenly becomes lonely?

If a person who is usually emotionally impenetrable suddenly becomes lonely then it's probably a sign that they've softened up or maybe that they were never emotionless in the first place and their emotions were just concealed. Depending on what's been happening in that person's life lately, I'd have to guess that a part of them yerns for a change. The only way to make the loneliness disappear is to either distract him/herself or achieve that desired change.
