'being hooked up' or 'going out'

Hey... can you tell me which is which and what these two terms mean ('being hooked up' and 'going out')? In a relationship which of these is better?

usually hooked up means more of a one night stand sort of thing. like no real relationship, just one night of 'fun and passion'.

going out is more of the relationship line. as in youre my boyfriend, i'm yours blah blah blah.

it's not really up to me to tell you which is better-- but i can give you my opinion.

i am in love with love. i truly am. no matter how many times i get hurt i'm always still out there ready for the next guy because i love that feeling you get when you talk to someone for hours and really connect and i love those butterfly feelings and all that junk. so i'd much rather have a relatiosnhip than a 'friends with benefits' or 'casualty.' but it's strictly up to you which ever you prefer.
