I have 20-20 vision with my contacts in. The perscription for my contacts is -4.5 and -4.75, how do I figure out my eyesight on the 20-20 scale? Is there some sort of conversion? I just want to know how bad my eyesight is. Asking a doctor isn't an option. I don't need to know, I'm just curious.
Additional info, added Thursday April 13 2006, 4:18 pm: The eye charts are useless to me because my vision is so bad that I can't even see the E on top (even though I know it's an E). I would need to go to a doctor to find out by using a chart, which, I'm not going to do. It's a waste of time and money for me just to get this one question answered and there's GOT to be a way to figure it out another way.... DancinCutie08 answered Thursday April 13 2006, 3:48 pm: edit:: i saw what you put for your addition info and what you do is you move closer to the chart to read it.. thats how the numbers chance because chances are you can atleast read it with it 1 foot in front of you and that still produces an number for you! also the charts are most likely no more than a dollar or so.. you might even be able to print one off the internet at the correct size!
there isnt a conversion... what they have are charts.. and its like if you can read a this # line at this many feet away you are perfect vision. i believe it is if you read the middle line at 20 feet away that is perfect but im not 100% sure.
after reading this through a few times i believe you want to know your vision without contacts. the easiest way to do it is test yourself. you can get those charts almost anywhere and just test you vision from 20 feet away. if you want more in depth info just tell me and i would be more than happy to find you something [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
