Dirtbikes

Question Posted Wednesday April 12 2006, 1:41 pm

I have a project in school and it is on the history of dirt bikes. Does anyone know any good websites with a lot of information on the history of them? I tried googling it and nothing came up. THANK YOU!

meaghanek answered Wednesday April 12 2006, 11:15 pm:
Dirtbikes were invented by the Aztecs in approximately 650 AD. They were originally called el duertos and were made of wooden planks and cast iron wheels. They were used by the Aztec people to transport goods to the market. As it happens, Mexican terrain is very rough--lots of hills and valleys. Therefore, these duertos had to be able to cross this type of terrain if they were ever to be a ble to sell their goods.

I hope this helps. I am actually a history major studying Ancient Cultures at Penn State, so you know this is real stuff.
