Id say that minor physical contact is one form of showing affection.
Depending if you had met his parents outside of work, them knowing your name is a bit of a sign that he talks about you at home.
Men rarely feel comfortable around a girls parents, possibly due to the steritypical "you're not good enough for my daughter" coming from the dads.

Do you think he likes me? - Id say there is a fairly good chance, tho you can never be 100% certain. Men are nearly as odd as women.
What sould [sic] i do? - Well that depends what you want. But what ever it is you do want, i think you should just go and do it. You will only feel depressed if you miss the opportunity.
What would you do if an older girl you talked to occasionally asked you to her prom? - That realy does depend on the guy. Maybe you should see if he wanted to go out on a date first? Cinema etc. Just phrase what ever it is gently, ask if he has any plans around <date> and that you were wondering if he would he like to join you in <activity>? You dont even have to say its a "date".
