Hey. My boyfriend just got me a ring and I wanted to check and see if it is real silver and/or diamonds. Does anyone here know a way to check without getting it appraised? Like a self check? I will rate high! Thanks!
Real diamonds are the strongest material known to man. If you try getting a rough corner of the diamond and scraping it down some glass, if it can mark the glass, it's a real diamond.
Of course, if you don't want to risk ruining your best glassware, you could also take it to a jeweller, who would be able to confirm if it is real diamond or not. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]

For diamonds, real diamonds are almost indestructible. They shouldn't scratch and definitely shouldn't chip. Take a look at the setting [how the diamond is attatched to the silver] as well. If it's very loose or poorly crafted, it's most likely fake. [ ForfeitYourDream's advice column | Ask ForfeitYourDream A Question ]
