What is your view on Athiesm? Hi, I recently turned Athiest, and I'm afraid to tell my brother...only one friend knows that I'm Athiest, and I would never tell my momor dad because I'm afraid they would view me as something....is it okay being Athiest? Or am I just having hormonal changes, because I've thought alot about it, and I realized I felt this way my whole life.

This is by far - THE most important question I have ever received and I hope I can help you and make a difference in your life because you are gambling your soul and eternity with what you have said are your current beliefs. You said you recently "turned" Atheist...what were you before? Why did you "turn"? You also asked me if it was ok to be Atheist - the answer is already in your heart...Re-read your own question...Why are you afraid to tell your parents and your brother? I think if you thought Atheism was the right thing, you would declare it with pride. So I return the question to YOU. Do YOU think it is OK? Based upon your question and your fears associated with it, I do not think you are a true Atheist. Do you fully understand what an Atheist believes?
Are you sure you are not Agnostic? People often confuse Atheism with Agnotic beliefs.
Agnostics are skeptical about the existence of God but they do not profess true atheism. An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist.
Atheists are 100% certain there is no God.
You asked if it is ok to be Atheist. I try very hard to not judge people - especially in this advice column so it would be unfair for me to tell you what I believe. I think my job is to advise you and let YOU find the answers for yourself. I have no right to judge anybody. But I DO believe it is NORMAL to have questions and it's important that you go looking for answers...When I was in High School, I also became very confused about my beliefs. Instead of turning my back on God, I decided to search for answers and I found the answers I needed. This is the advice I give to you...read Jeremiah 29:13-14 and Romans 1:19-21.
When it comes to the possibility of God's existence, the Bible says that there are people who have seen sufficient evidence, but they have suppressed the truth about God. On the other hand, for those who want to know God if He is there, He says, "You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you."
I can understand confusion at your age but to be certain that you do not believe in God is very rare. I think it would be a scary world to have no God to turn to for help and guidance.
WHY do you have these feelings? Sometimes, when a person feels betrayed by God or feel that he hasn't been there when needed, then they decide he must not exist. Please write me back and let me know if this is the case because this "declaration of atheism" may just be a SYMPTOM of other issues in your life that I might be able to help you with.
Even though I don't know who you are, You and your question are very important to me!!
Please write me again with this clarification and I will respond ASAP. Re-read the question you gave me. I think if you were firm in your beliefs, you would not have felt the need to write me in the first place. Open your heart. Read those two scriptures. Pray. God will let you know he is there.
All My Love,
Mrs S ]
