EricStarr answered Tuesday March 21 2006, 11:01 pm: Since its a "Percentage" it depends on how much you currently weigh, how much of that is fat and how much is lean muscle. For example, if you gain 3lbs muscle and don't loose any fat your body fat % will go down. Conversly you can loose 5 lbs on a crash diet, but if its mostly muscle loss due to your body trying to conserve energy because of the sudden lack of calories, Your Body fat% will go UP.
However, a general rule of thumb is if you weigh 140 1% is 1.4 lbs, assuming its all fat loss and no muscle gain. In other words divide your current weight by 100 and that is 1% [ EricStarr's advice column | Ask EricStarr A Question ]
