Weight

Question Posted Thursday February 16 2006, 9:08 pm

I'm 17 and a junior in highschool. I'm 5'8", and I weigh 95 pounds. My doctor thinks I'm becoming anorexic, but I disgaree. I eat everything, and I certainly don't starve myself. I play soccer, lacrosse, hockey, and track, so that's the main reason I weigh so little. What can I do to convince everyone that I'm not anorexic? What should I do about my weight?

Wow, you are seriously skinny! Your BMI is 14.4 which means you are extremely underweight. Do you have a menstrual cycle at all? Usually girls with low body mass indexes don't have a period. Since you are so active, you burn off all of your calories. After you work out, try drinking a protein shake (Shaklee has great ones). This will help you build muscle mass, but you should really just talk to your doctor about things you should try to gain weight. I used to have eating disorders, and i know many girls that are still struggling with them never get down to your size.
Try writing down everything you eat between doctor visits, and show him what you've eaten. Get one of your parents to sign it or something, and hopefully he'll believe you. As for the teenagers, there isn't really a way to prove you're not anorexic. People spread rumors all the time, you just have to ignore them.
This site may help you with gaining weight.. or you could go to google or another search engine and tpye in "start gaining weight"
