Never use just one site on a topic, search many and make sure that they all say pretty much the same thing, that way you can be sure it's factual. [ fish34's advice column | Ask fish34 A Question ]

When you find an article you like, make sure it's from a credible source. Then you can start writing your essay or whatever--at least, that's what a current event is considered at my school.
If you don't, that's great! Just make sure you could discuss the issue debated in the article if called upon to do so by the teacher.
If you do have to write a paper, make sure you present your opinion of the issue. Also, present all the other major public opions on the topic. Then discuss WHY you think what you think, and why you believe the other party/parties are wrong in their opinion. Prove your point, in other words.
