Maybe you need a new graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0 Go into your control panel, then go into Hardware and Maintanence, then go into see basic information about this computer. If it says you have an "integrated graphics driver" then you need to upgrade your graphics card. Go to best buy, and buy an nVidia GeForce 5500 OC. It's only like 60 bucks, and the sims 2 will look fine on it. Hope I helped! Please rate me

Have you tried updating your graphics card driver?

Right click your desktop, then choose Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > Properties > Driver > Update Driver
